OUI Process in Massachusetts – What to do after a drunk driving conviction

If you’ve been convicted of an OUI (drunk driving offense) in Massachusetts, your license may be suspended or revoked. Before you are eligible to receive driving privileges, you may need to complete/obtain the following:

  1. Alcohol Assessment
  2. Driver Alcohol Education Program
  3. Vehicle Impoundment
  4. Ignition Interlock Device

Your driver’s license will likely be suspended by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) for a set period of time, depending on your conviction. A RMV Hearings Officer can explain what you need to do to receive your hardship license or full reinstatement.
